Summary

When Washington crossed the Delaware by Lynne Cheney tells the story about how he defeated the British army. George Washington was general of the American army. They crossed the Delaware River and surprised the Hessians, German soldiers, causing the Hessians to surrender. Then they made the British surrender, too. Shortly afterwards, they elected general George Washington as the first president ever.
